of Sanskrit necessary Friday, September 26: 6- 8 PM Saturday, September

the course of this weekend you will learn: - knowledge & practice of the
sounds of the devanagri (the sanskrit alphabet) as bija mantras for chakra
tuning - how to read Sanskrit, and use the recognition of the original script
to enhance your experience of sacred sound - a powerful new learning model
that teaches you the key to sustained one-pointed focus & gives you complete
comfort and enjoyment in a group learning environment - the opening of your
voice; your capacity to fully resonate and heal with sound - the essence of
yoga, through the model of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras Leslie Freyberg
is an American Sanskrit Institute Instructor as well as a Certified
Iyengar Yoga Instructor. She began her studies of Sanskrit in the early 1990's,
and continues to study with Vyaas Houston, Director of the American Sanskrit Institute.
She is a faculty member of the Iyengar Yoga Institute in New York City, and is
a frequent guest teacher/lecturer for Patricia Walden in Boston and other yoga
centers throughout the Northeast. The joy she brings to her teaching comes from
her passionate love of Sanskrit. FIRST

7/ Intro to Anusara Yoga: Opening to Grace ALL LEVELS This first
workshop will be a fun and enlightening introduction to Anusara Yoga.A full spectrum
of asana will be practiced to prepare students for deeper work throughout this
series. Principles of alignment and the primary flows of energy that inform asana
practice will be introduced.Students are encouraged, but not required, to take
all four workshops sequentially. October 5/ Effort and Surrender: Standing
Poses ALL LEVELS This class will build on the basic principles of the first
workshop and will explore the relationship between effort and surrender, stability
and freedom, and the work of the inner and the outer body in standing poses.
November 2/ The Shrine of the Heart: Backbends and Principles of Shoulder
Alignment LEVELS I,II,III Yoga practitioners often refer to the body as
a temple. Using this metaphor we will explore the idea that the heart is the shrine
and the principles of the optimal shoulder alignment are a means to enter more
fully into the sanctuary within ourselves. December 7/ The Inner and the
Outer Body: Arm Balances and Inversions LEVELS
I, II,
III This
workshop will integrate the principles of shoulder alignment introduced in the
back-bending workshop. Together we will cultivate dedication, discipline, and
sensitivity in the hard work of arm balances and inversions. Students will learn
techniques to build muscular strength as well as methods for accessing the deep
well of inner strength that can help bring these challenging poses alive. This
class is not appropriate for those with current injury, and all participants should
be able to hold downward dog for some duration. IYENGAR
YOGA FROM THE SOURCE with Peentz Dubble LEVELS I,II,III Sunday,
November 16 9AM-noon and 1-3PM Both sessions/ $100 Space permitting:
AM session/$65 PM session/$50 Join Peentz in a day of inspired asana and pranayama
practice based on her latest visit to the Ramamani Iyengar Institute in Pune,
India, where she studied directly with Geeta, Prashant, and B.K.S. Iyengar.Students
will deepen their practices and their connection to the source of yoga. Discussion
of the Iyengar lineage and its relevance to our own lives and practices will be
included in the day Peentz Dubble studies frequently with B.K.S.,
Geeta, and Prashant Iyengar in India, and is a nationally certified Iyengar Yoga
teacher at the Intermediate level. She teaches in Newton and Cambridge, MA, leads
summer workshops in Vermont, and throughout the U.S. She also co-teaches the B.K.S.
Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training Program, directed by Patricia Walden, in Boston.
Peentz teaches with great clarity, passion, and compassion. |
